Is God Cruel?
In his book The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins states that "The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction." He then goes on to express his reasons for rejecting God.
So how do we find a God of love in these Old Testament stories? Why would God tell His people to destroy an entire city; men, women, children and livestock? Why does Jesus seem so loving and kind, yet His Father comes across as so cruel?
This week we are going to study this very topic. We will look at the warfare of the Old Testament and seek to understand why God ordered the mass killings. If God is love, He must be loving in every action. Join us this week for the sermon, Is God Cruel?
